Rainbow City standoff

There was a standoff in Rainbow City early Wednesday morning between a Jacksonville man and Calhoun County sheriff’s deputies attempting to serve him with a warrant. 22-year-old Brian Mason Carnes allegedly barricaded himself, along with two others, a brother and a sister, inside the residence on Lakewood Drive. The siblings were released shortly after midnight and, after three hours of negotiations, Carnes surrendered. He was being held at the Etowah County Detention Center, awaiting transfer to Calhoun County, where he’s wanted on that warrant for first-degree robbery in connection with an incident last Sunday.
