Never Too Old
Agnes Zhelesnik says she’s going to retire from teaching next year. Why is that a big deal?
Because this teacher, who students lovingly call “Granny,” is 99-years-old. Agnes started teaching at age 81, after spending six decades as a stay-at-home mom. She even works at the same school in New Jersey where her daughter teaches.
When asked why she’s still at it, Agnes says it’s because of the kids. “The children are the greatest,” she explained. “You know, you have your own, but when it’s these kids, they’re just something else.”
