Calhoun gas tax bill
Calhoun County would get to keep an extra 300-thousand dollars a year in gas tax money under a bill approved Thursday by the Alabama House. Currently, a law that specifically applies to Calhoun requires it to share 17 and a half percent of gas tax proceeds to the county’s cities and towns. The measure, sponsored by Anniston Republican Barbara Boyd, would change that to 10 percent, the same as most other counties in the state. It now goes to the state Senate.
