Census Concerns — Governor Takes Action

Gov. Ivey has created a new committee and their job is to encourage people to participate in the 2020 Census. The state wants everybody counted — because it’s possible the state will lose a congressional seat because of declining population numbers. Ivey announced the Alabama Counts Census Committee. Currently, Alabama is suing the federal government over counting illegal immigrants as part of the decision-making in determining how many members of congress a state should have.
