Make a resolution you can keep in 2018! Become a regular blood donor during National Blood Donor Month at the 5th annual Media for Red Cross blood drive.

National Blood Donor Month has been observed in January since 1970 with the goal of increasing blood donations during winter – one of the most difficult times of year to collect enough blood products to meet patient needs. Severe winter weather may result in canceled blood drives, and seasonal illnesses, like the flu, can cause donors to be temporarily unable to give.

The Red Cross needs donors of all blood types to maintain a sufficient supply. Eligible donors with types O, A negative and B negative blood are encouraged to make a Power Red donation.

During this type of donation, red blood cells are separated from other blood components, and the plasma and platelets are safely and comfortably returned to the donor.

Make your commitment to help save lives in the new year by using the Blood Donor App, visiting redcrossblood.org (sponsor code radio)

or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to schedule your appointment.
