    Sunday, July 3rd
    Alabama is hosting a community wide 4th of July Celebration, Sunday July 3rd from 5:30-9:00 pm. Activities will include water slides, free food, gift card giveaways, and will end with a firework show beginning at 9 pm. Any and everyone is invited.
  • MONTGOMERY – Fireworks, great summer food and live entertainment highlight July 4th celebrations across Alabama.  Visitors can choose from more than 20 Independence Day events and firework shows.
  •  50th Anniversary of the Spirit of America Festival at Point Mallard in Decatur, Thunder on the Mountain at Vulcan Park & Museum in Birmingham and Independence Day 1776 at the American Village in Montevallo. Families can also enjoy a picnic at the riverfront in Montgomery, sample fresh watermelon at the Watermelon Festival in Grand Bay or watch reflections of fireworks on the waves at Gulf Shores.

    Huntsville- U.S. Space & Rocket Center July 4th Celebration
    Children ages 12 and under get free admission on July 4 at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. Enjoy special, family-friendly patriotic activities during regular museum hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Rocket Center will close at 5 p.m., and there are no evening activities inside the park on July 4. Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood, that leads to more than 41,000 blood donations that are needed each day. Help WQSB, MIX 102.9 & Power 107.5 save a life at the American Red Cross 4-Day Independence Day Blood Drive July 1st, 2nd & 3rd, 1 pm – 7 pm & Monday, July 4th 1 pm – 6 pm at Premiere Cinemas in the Gadsden Mall.

Dragon Boat Festival 2016

The 5th Annual Habitat Dragon Boat Festival will be this Saturday, August 20th starting at 9 am at the Riverwalk Park & Boardwalk in Gadsden!
FREE admission, FREE parking! A great family event that includes the races, concessions, picnic area, music, drummers’ parade and more. This year Habitat for Humanity celebrates 20 years of service in Etowah County. The funds raised from this Festival will fund our 50th house. There will be food vendors, Kid’s Zone, JSU Steel Drum Band, music, mini-dragon boat rides, and of course ~ the Dragon Boat Races! (Admission for spectators is FREE!) Each dragon boat team consists of 20 paddlers, 1 drummer, coxswain, and 3 alternates. In both the Competitive and Recreational Division, teams race for the gold, silver and bronze paddle. Top three teams also receive individual medals.

The deadline to register is Aug. 5th. Space is limited to 40 teams. With a completed team registration form and full payment, each team can select their tent site in the Athletes Village and their place in line for practice.”

Race Day:
Gold, silver & bronze award paddles in both Competitive and Recreational Divisions for top 3 fastest teams. Other awards: Best Drummer Costume, Best Team Spirit, Best Decorated Tent and Best Team T-Shirts.
9 am – 3 pm at Riverwalk Park & Boardwalk in Gadsden.
